DULER: Calangute Association Sports Club advanced into the quarter-finals of Calangute Panchayat Soccer Cup with a convincing 2-0 win over St Rock’s Sports Club Majorda, organised by Calangute Association, played at Poriat grounds, here on Thursday. Hosts Calangute scored a goal in each session of play. A curling corner by Pedro Gonsalves was headed by Vithal Vaigankar in the direction of the goal, where Majorda’s Llyod Dias, in the process of clearing the ball, scored a self goal, 1-0. On crossing ends, Calangute increased their lead as Anad Kerkar guided the ball into the goal off a cross from Sidharth Simepursekar, 2-0. In the closing stages of the match, St Rock’s time and again attacked the rival citadel but their strikers failed to score.
