Sporting Club Cana Benaulim edged Parish Youth Nuvem 10-9 via a tie-breaker to advance to the quarter-finals of the Gold Silver Rolling Trophy football tournament, organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
In a high-scoring match, both teams showed urgency to find the net and kept the crowd entertained as they were locked 3-3 at full time.
Vishal Fernandes scored a brace in the 10th and 38th minutes, while Arif Pathan scored Benaulim’s third goal in the 56th minute.
For Nuvem, Albino Pereira scored a hat-trick in the 4th, 6th and 52nd minutes but could not help his side win the match.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Benaulim converted seven penalties, while Nuvem could score only six and lost the match.
Vishal Fernandes of Sporting Club Cana Benaulim was awarded the Man of the Match prize by Agnelo Estibeiro.
