MARGAO: Canacona Sports and Cultural Club blanked St. Cruz Society of Poitomado Cuncolim with a 2-0 win, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Navelim Villagers Union Trophy, at Rosary Church Ground in Navelim, on Monday.
Chaitan Komarpant opened the scoring for Canacona in the ninth minute, and Velvino Fernandes extended their lead with a goal in the 39th minute. Chaitan was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from Lorry Dias of the Navelim Villagers Union.
