Cavelossim confident of good start to Pro League in the new season

SCC Cavelossim have begun their practice sessions to gear up for the Goa Professional League for the season 2017-18 at Cavelossim beach on Wednesday.

PANAJI: The squad assembled at the beach under the watchful eyes of head coach Severino Fernandes. Manager Raju Cardozo, President Denis Dias and Secretary Viriato Mendes were also present to monitor the training session.
Coach Severino disclosed that this year, most of the players for Pro- League have been recruited from the U-20 group. He also added that he wants to tap the young talent with future of the club in mind. For Cavelossim, it will be a rebuilding phase this season as most of the players who donned their colours last year have joined other clubs for better prospects. "This is a building phase for the club, and we are making sure that the boys are enjoying their stint on the ground. It's all about learning while playing and giving the optimum results," he added.
Looking ahead to the new season, Severino hoped the present squad gives their 100 percent in order to achieve the necessary results. "Putting in your best all the time should be the players' goal," stated Severino .He also said that this year with the blessing of Patron Santa Cruz (Holy Cross), the young side will achieve full results.

HC dismisses Sportsweek's writ petition to stall GCA AGM

The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday dismissed the writ petition filed by Sportsweek Cricket Club, an affiliate of Goa Cricket Association after the Margao club had only a day before approached the High Court brining to its notice the "illegal acts" committed by the GCA with regards to the implementation of the Lodha reforms.

PanajiJustice Gautam Patel and Justice Nutan Sardessai dismissed the writ petition (No.2873) with the liberty to the petitioner to approach the court if he feels aggrieved.
