Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim defeated Corps of Signals 2-1 in their GFA under 20 Taca Goa match at 3MTR Grounds, Navelim on Friday.
The Cavelossim Colts were right off the blocks and took a flying start when Mathew Colaco slotted past he rival goalkepeer with a snap shot in the 37th minute to hand Cavlelossim a solitary goal lead against their opponents.
Although the Cavelossm Colts fought for every inch on the ground, Coprs of Signals dominated possession. Backed by the voiceferous crowds, Corps of Signals went all out in serach of equalizer and their efforts bore fruit in the 53rd minute when Cyril Dias scored off a stiff shot.
Both the teams were in attacking mode and had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards frittered away from close range .Midway in the second half, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim defence repelled the Coprs attack with sheer acumen to kept the citadel intact. Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim sealed the match at the stroke of full time when Sneeden Madeira beat the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
