CD Fountainhead registered a three-wicket win over Rising Stars of Ponda in a league match of the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 at the MCC Ground, Margao, under floodlights.
After winning the toss, Rising Stars of Ponda opted to bat and were restricted to 119 for 9 in 20 overs. Openers Venkat Biche (17) and Sanat Mhapne (18) added 37 runs in four overs, while Nandan Acharya scored 18. Paarth Kossambe remained unbeaten on 15 to take the total close to 120.
Manish Kakode led the bowling for CD Fountainhead, returning figures of 4 for 16. He was well supported by Aditya Prabhugaonkar and Vivek Keny, who claimed two wickets each.
In reply, CD Fountainhead suffered early setbacks and slipped to 36 for 5. Kakode then stabilised the innings with a half-century, anchoring the chase before retiring out. Pranav Biche contributed 12, while Anish Prabhudesai (14 not out) and Vivek Shantaram Keny (10 not out) guided the team to victory.
CD Fountainhead reached the target in 14.5 overs, finishing on 122 for 7. Despite disciplined bowling from Rising Stars of Ponda, led by Sanat Mhapne and Ved Mahambre, the side was unable to defend its total.
Manish Kakode was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance, while Vivek Keny received the Hero of the Match award. The honours were presented by chief guest Jaiprakash Kunde.
