MARGAO: Chandor Club crushed Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 5-1 to enter the finals of 48th Chandor Seamen football tournament, organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Thursday.
Both teams started on an impressive note and Don Bosco opened their account in the ninth minute through Myron Fernandes who took a power-packed shot which crushed into the Chandor net. Chandor continued to look out for an equaliser which evaded them till the whistle for break .
Crossing over, Chandor played their hearts out and their hard work was rewarded when Joaquim headed into the Don Bosco net off a corner in the 42nd minute. Three minutes later, Chandor hit the cross bar and rebounded which fell at the feet of Sildon Peixoto who made no mistake to take a powerful snapshot. Chandor pumped the fourth goal through Vitorino Fernandes off a midfield pass from Sevaraj. With just seven minutes left for the final whistle, Alreach Peixoto made it 5-1 when he deflected a shot from the midfield to the utter surprise of the Fatorda custodian.
The man of the match was awarded to Alreach Peixoto.
Chandor Club will now meet Curtorim Gymkhana in the finals on September 17.
