Chapora Yuvak Sangh stunned Dunes Sports Club, Morjim 1-0 to enter the semi-finals of the North Goa McDowell’s No 1 Yaari Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Saligao United at Duler Ground, Mapusa on Friday.
In an evenly poised battle, both teams displayed an attacking brand of soccer. Dunes Sports Club called the shots initially, however their forwards muffed sitters.
Post resumption, there were a few thrills at either end. Chapora Yuvak Sangh striker Rohan Kambli came close to score but his shot was well blocked by the rival
goalkeeper.
Chapora Yuvak Sangh scored the winning goal in the 60th minute when Rohan Kambli’s well executed free kick rolled into the net.
With time running out, Dunes Sports Club went all out in search of an equalizer but rival defenders stood tall in protecting their slender lead intact.
