Chinchinim Veterans beat Toleaband via tiebreaker to win the Fr Bruno Leitao memorial football exhibition match at Church Ground, Chinchinim.
The match was organised as a mark of respect to Fr Bruno, who died after contracting Covid-19 last month. Fr Bruno was himself a footballer who played for Union of Chinchinim Villagers.
The exhibition match began at a brisk pace with both teams playing attacking football. Tolleaband, from where Fr Bruno hailed, matched their opponents Chinchinim Veterans, comprising of former footballers. After toiling in the regulation time, Chinchinim Veterans prevailed in the penalty shootout.
Rev Fr Alex D’Souza gave away the winners' trophy in the presence of Fr Joyesim, Joyston Reberio, Piety Leitao, brother of Fr Bruno, and Jesus Antao, tiatrist.
