Feagus Boys, Curchorem beat Zico Boys 3-2 to clinch the All Goa 7-a-side football tournament organized by Friends Forever at Figureido Ground, Curchorem.
Feagus Boys went into the lead early when Myron Fernandes broke the deadlock with a snap shot. However, their joy was short-lived when Bersal cancelled the lead. The equalizer galvanised Feagus Boys and former India midfielder Alvito Cunha regained the lead when he unleashed a left-footed drive that beat the rival goalkeeper.
Stunned by the lead, Zico Boys went all out and in the dying minutes of first half, Santan levelled the scores. Crossing over, Feagus Boys were a transformed side and launched a series of attacks but the rival defenders did well to protect their citadel. With the time running out, Feagus Boys struck the match-winner when Shallum Pires connected in style off Alvito D'Cunha's flag-kick.
Myron of Fegaus Boys grabbed a prize for being the first scorer and his teammate Oswin bagged the best goalkeeper award. Clarence of Zico Boys was adjudged as the best defender. Feagus Boys earned a prize of Rs 55,555 while Zico Boys pocketed Rs 33,333.
Balkrishna Hodarkar, councillor and ex-chairperson of Curchorem Municipal Council, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Sushanth Naik, Pradip Naik, Mangaldas Ghadi (all CMC Councillors), Tito D'Cunha, ex-footballer, John D'Costa, Agnelo Pires and Raimundo Pereira.
