Students of Dattaram K Chopdekar Memorial High School, Porvorim, performed well at the state level inter-school athletics competition organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Sunny Viswakarma won a gold medal in hammer throw, breaking previous state record. Rubina Dale also won a gold medal in hammer throw with a new record while Pinki Sonar clinched a silver medal in the same event. Ajay Saha won a silver in 400m hurdles.At the district level, Rubina Dale and Pinki Sonar bagged a gold and silver medal respectively in hammer throw. Sunny bagged silver medals in javelin, hammer throw and discus throw. In 400m hurdles, Ajay Saha and Rohit Jadhav collected a silver and bronze medal, respectively.
At the taluka level, Sunny bagged a gold medal for javelin throw, hammer throw and discus throw, while Pinki Sonar claimed a gold medal for hammer throw. Rubina bagged a silver medal for javelin and hammer throw. Ajay and Rohit won a silver and bronze respectively in 400m hurdles.
The chairperson of the school, Neelam Rohan Khaunte and Headmistress, Soniya Kerkar congratulated the students. Physical Education teacher, Kedar Shirodkar also praised the
students.
