Goa coach Joao Rebello sounded positive about the tough group for Goa's campaign in the 37th National Games women football at Tilak Maidan,Vasco which kicks-off on October 28, reiterating his belief in the ability of her girls to perform.
Rebello said, "I did not keep any expectations for it . I told myself that my team has already given a good account themselves in the preparatory camp" Rebello told The Goan Everyday on Tuesday.
"I believe from the bottom of my heart that these girls can perform against the Haryana, Odisha and Chandigarh in the group,” he asserted.
However some players have niggling injuries and Rebello would hope they will recover before the tournament commence.
The squad has international and national players which has been a boost for the confidence of the player. "I changed and instilled the learnings while choosing and training these girl," Rebelo said.
"We are confident of putting up a good performance in front of home crowds The girls have given their 100 per cent and the best 23 are in the team,” said the coach.
Being confident is one thing but being overconfident can be dangerous for any side, and Rebello certainly knows that. “Even though we are confident in our abilities, we cannot take any team for granted. Haryana and Odisha being the team will certainly come strong at us,” he added.
"The talent is there and I believe a few of them can come up through the various age group teams up to the State level. This is certainly a perfect platform for the young girls to prove themselves,” Rebello concluded.
