Ajay scored four goals as Corps of Signals continued their winning run in the GFA's First Division League, thrashing deubtants Panchwadi United Sports Club 7-0 at the 3MTR ground, Navelim on Sunday.
The win helped Corps of Signals maintained their cent percent record as they now sit comfortably at the top of the table with seven points from three matches. Striker Ajay was in the thick of action and opened the scoring in the 37th minute when he slottted past the rival goalkeeper Roshan Singh. Stung by the early setback, Panchwadi United went into an attacking mode but Corps of Signals goalkeeper Ilyas Moon was rock solid under the bar and effected good saves.
After minor hiccups, Corps of Signals kept the pressure and created couple of chances but failed to convert them. The second half began in similar fashion with the Corps of Signals completely dominating the game. At the other end, Panchwadi United came up with a few counter attacks but were not threatening enough to trouble the military men's defence.
In the 61st Minute, Ajay doubled the lead when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Then it was the turn of Lairellakpam Singh who outwitted a couple of rival defenders and punted the ball to the far corner of the net off a pass from Ajay in the 68th minute, to add his name on the scorers list.
Ten minutes later, Lairellakpam struck a second time to give his team a 4-0 cushion off a cross from Solomon. The tiki-taka began soon and the Corps of Signals were all over the rival territory and in the 84th minute, Ajay converted a spot kick awarded after Nukul Singh was brought down by the rival defender to register his hat-trick.
Down 0-5, Panchwadi United went all out but rival goalkeeper Moon came to his side's rescue by effecting two superb saves. Substiute L Shaha then unleashed a long ranger that crashed into the net in the 88th minute. Ajay drove the last nail into the rival coffin at the stroke of the final whistle.
