Cuncolim Union edged United Boys of Ambaulim 8-7 via a tie-breaker to enter the last eight of the 34th Curtorim Panchayat Cup, organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
Both teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
Cyril Dias opened the scoring from inside the box after being assisted by Alex Fernandes. Tushar Gaonkar then fed an unmarked
Viraj Velip, who made no mistake in finding the equaliser.
As the game progressed, Cuncolim Union took the lead when Viraj Velip scored from a free-kick. However, in the dying minutes, Ambaulim found the equaliser through Royal Oliver.
In the resulting tie-breaker, Cuncolim Union proved to be the better shooters to win the match.
Viraj Velip of Cuncolim Union was awarded Player of the Match by Mathew Hillario.
