Curtorim Gym win

Curtorim Gymkhana overpowered Tilamola United Sports Club 3-1 to clinch the 9th St Anthony Festival Cup inter village football tournament organised by St Anthony's Sports Club, Assolda at Panchayat ground, Assolda on Sunday. Curtorim led 1-0 at the break.

Curtorim Gymkhana found the breakthrough in the 22nd minute when Milagres Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Jowin Carneiro increased the tally when he picked up the ball from Milagres Fernandes and his volley crashed into the net, giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
The 2-0 cushion boosted Curtorim Gymkhana and James Fernandes made it a comfortable 3-0. Tilamola United finally found a consolation goal in the 55th minute through Aliston Costa. Curtorim Gymkhana were richer by Rs 30,000 and received a glittering trophy while Tilamola United Sports Club bagged Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
Rev Fr Urbano Fernandes was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Caetano Fernandes, proprietor of KEM Industries. Custodio Fernandes welcomed the guests and proposed a vote of thanks. In all, 16
teams participated.
