PANAJI

Dayne Coelho kept up his stunning form to win the Goa State Boardsailing Championship at the Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre at Hawaii Beach. However, he missed making a clean sweep when Raunaq Pai edged ahead of him in lighter winds in Sunday's first race.

It was the concluding day of the championships, organised by the Goa Yachting Association (GYA) and supported by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG). Raunaq Pai finished second overall and Russel Lobo was third.

In the women's category, Katya Coelho kept up her dominance winning all three races of the day. Rhea Fernandes was second overall. The only surprise of the day was when her younger sister Megan edged her out to come second in the last race of the day. Megan also came third overall.

Beach races were held for the participants of the GYA's Windsurfing Summer Camp. After a series of elimination races in the morning, the final series of races were held in the afternoon. Katya Coelho emerged on top followed by Keona Rajani and Johan Pinto proving that sailing is a discipline in which women and men can compete at an equal level.
