DBO drub Davorlim, storm into Bebe Costa finals

Strong contenders Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda drubbed a listless Sporting Club Davorlim 3-0 to storm into the finals of the 13th Bebe Costa Memorial Inter-Village football tournament organized by United Club of Benaulim at St John the Baptist Grounds, Dando-Benaulim on Wednesday.

MARGAO

Nothing went right for Davorlim after they conceded soft goals within four minutes of the start. Fatorda winger Mackwin Soares' floater found both the Davorlim stoppers Pieaded Colaco and Clifton Rebello badly out of opposition allowing rival right winger Verito D'Souza to dart in and when the last-gasp challenge of Davorlim goalkeeper Shetty was also very poor it made Verito's job very easy to shoot into an unguarded goal. The misery continued for Davorlim as their defense was at fault again when Fatorda consolidated their lead three minutes later when Piedade allowed Necil Pinto to take a through ball by Cliff Barreto to slot past the heavily exposed Shetty in the Davorlim goal. Davorlim never recovered from the two early jolts while the confidence of the rivals increased with the impressive Cliff Barreto, Blaise Faleiro having a stranglehold on the proceedings.
Before Davorlim could change the course of the match their rivals had other plans and increased their tally in the 41st minute when striker Nacil Pinto took full advantage of the hesitation between defender Piedade and goalkeeper Shetty to stear the ball to the far corner of the net and take the match away from their rivals. Having taken a firm grip on the match, Fatorda never allowed Davorlim to stage a comeback as the rearguard of Rocky Borges, Velito Miranda and Minguel Tamdi stood tall at the back.
