Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda downed hosts Cuncolim Union 2-1 to march into the finals of All Goa 7th Cuncolim Union Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union at Government School play grounds, Cuncolim on Friday. There was no score at the lemon break.

Despite an aggressive start, both teams missed a couple of scoring opportunities. As the match progressed, Cuncolim Union took control over the match with their forwards threatening to break the deadlock. Their tries either went wide or found the ball travelling straight into the safe hands of DBO custodian.

At the other end, DBO forwards showed urgency and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Cuncolim Union had a golden chance to surge ahead. However, Daulat Dessai headed out a well-measured cross from Frazier Feranndes.

After a narrow escape, DBO went into the groove and Valente Silva's booming shot missed the target narrowly.

Post resumption, DBO were a dominant lot with their forwards making inroads into the rival penalty box and their efforts bore fruit when Hanslem Furtado slotted past the Cuncolim Union goalkeeper Joston Fernandes with a snap shot off a pass from Cliff Baretto.

Stung by that setback, and backed by voiciferous home crowds, Cuncolim Union created some goal-scoring chances in quick succession and they were rewarded in the 43rd minute when Micky Fernandes' well executed free kick gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper after DBO defender Micheal Faleiro handled the ball outside the penalty box. Unfazed, DBO continued to raid Cuncolim Union citadel and in the 57th minute Adney Fernandes put the ball into his own goal while trying to clear the ball from Valente Silva.

Down by 1-2, Cuncolim Union went all out in search of equaliser and pressed more men upfront but the Fatorda defence was rock solid and protected the slender lead.
