IAP, Women Cell Goa in collaboration with Dempo Football Club organised a Sports Injury Prevention Camp as part of the World Physiotherapy Week celebrations at their home ground on Monday. The talk was attended by various sports enthusiasts, professional / non-professional players and coaches to help their players increase their efficiency.
The event was successfully organised in the presence of Karnagaran Naidoo, the Technical Director “ Youth Development, of Dempo Football Club, with physiotherapists from across Goa (Dr Jason Fernandes, Dr Aaron Rodrigues, Dr Michelle D’Silva, Dr Smaranika Das) along with a guest speaker, Dr Basavaraj Motimath from KLE, Belgaum.
The aim of the program was to spread awareness of the need of physiotherapy in the sports sector. Sport medicine is one of the branches of physiotherapy that is specialized in addressing challenges related to physical health and movement. Professional players cannot play without the clearance of the physiotherapist as they are responsible for their fitness as well as injury prevention and recovery. The association is keen on doing such events in the future where they would like to conduct similar talks to help our athletes enhance their performance by minimising sports injuries.
IAP Women Cell, Goa Branch also, conducted various free assessment and treatment camps across Goa in more than 10 locations with the help of the State committee members, volunteers, enthusiasts and various associated partners like physiotherapy clinics, Hospitals, old age home and places of worship.
