Salgaocar Football Club launched its grassroots football programme under their community outreach mission, for the 2018-19 -season with the inaugural session at the Chicalim Panchayat ground. Over 450 young boys and girls, participated in the training session.
Salgaocar FC vice-president, Swati Salgaocar thanked the children and their parents for their support over the years. “We are happy to launch our sixth edition of this programme as we have always believed that the way forward for Indian football is to develop talent at the grassroots level,” said Salgaocar.
The outreach programme saw children participate in a series of activity grids comprising of multiple fun games and competitive small-sided games focussed on improving their technical abilities and love for the game under the watchful eyes of coaches and volunteers, including those from Salgaocar FC’s professional and youth development programem.
SFC will conduct 20 sessions between October and March, engaging youth from the vicinity of Vasco as part of club’s grassroots and community outreach initiative this season. “Our objective is to allow the kids enjoy the beautiful game in the most fun and safe way. This will help them to develop love for the game at a young age,” said Adlear D’Cruz, general secretary of Salgaocar FC.
Salgaocar FC president Shivanand Salgaocar graced the occasion while, team manager Sanjeev Nagvekar was also present for the opening ceremony among others.
