Indian Navy in Goa Naval Area, conducted a football tournament as part of their endeavour to create bonhomie with citizens in the state and extend cooperation with the civil community, to mark the ongoing Navy Week.
Goa is one of the traditional powerhouse regions of Indian football and Goan teams and players have always displayed regional and national domination in top leagues and tournaments across the country by putting up strong competition with the big names in national football circuit.
The tournament provided an opportunity to young students to exhibit the same spirit by encouraging participation of maximum number of teams from neighbouring schools.
The Navy Week football tournament was organised at Navy Children School sports ground, Chicalim, from December 5 to 7, where a total of eight teams from neighboring schools participated. The knock-out matches involved Navy Children School Chicalim, Regina Mundi High School, St. Andrew Higher Secondary School and Deepvihar Higher Secondary School.
Navy Children School (Goa) went down to St Andrew Higher Secondary School in the final.
