Devesh Naik won the 4th Ponda Taluka level open rapid chess tournament organised by Gurukul Academy under the auspices of Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Gurukul Academy, Ponda.
Amogh Namshiker, President, PTCA, was the chief arbiter of the tournament. Sohan Nageshkar, Akhil Naik, Yash Upadhye, Sagar Pednekar, Varun Shastry, Swayam Naik, Harsh Kurtikar, Sathvik Kerkar, Sarvesh Kurtikar, Parth Kamat, Yogesh Paibir, Vishwesh Pai, Nitinchandra Dighe and Swayam Bambolkar secured 2nd to 15th place.
The age category prizes were awarded to: Best U13 - Arjun Nehe, Avira Kurtikar, Best U11 - Anchit Naik, Srilaxmi Kamat, Best U9 - Vrujesh Hande, Purvi Barve, Best U7 - Aarav Gaonkar, Swara Gaonkar. Best Gurukul Academy students: Sahil Gaonkar, Sharmad Chari and Aryan D’Costa; Best student from Matruchhaya’s Bal Kalyan Ashram: Hanumant Pujari.
The certificates and trophies were distributed at the hands of Sagar Sakordekar, Founder President, PTCA; Amogh Namshiker; Anand Kurtikar, Secretary, PTCA, and Mahesh Khedekar, Treasurer, PTCA.
