Don Bosco College, Panjim emerged champions in the Women’s category, while St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa clinched the Men’s title at the Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship 2025“26, organized by Goa University. The event was held at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim.
In the well-contested Men’s championship finals, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, with a final score of 62-57.
In the Women’s championship finals, Don Bosco College, Panjim, defeated St. Xavier’s College with a score of 47-22.
Earlier in the semifinals of the Women’s Section, Don Bosco College, Panjim, defeated Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar, with a score of 24-06, and St. Xavier’s College defeated Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, with a score of 27-07.
In the Men’s semifinals, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, with a score of 40-34. And St. Xavier’s College defeated Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce. & Economics. Cujira, Bambolim, with a margin of 45-34.
The best player men was awarded to Tanish Lotlicar of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda.
The best player women was bagged by Sarah Hussain of Don Bosco College, Panjim.
In the Presentation Ceremony, Chief Guest Maria Helen Pinto, Basketball National Player and Coach and Guest of Honor Sonali Raut & Fr. Ralin D’Souza, Rector-Don Bosco Engineering, Fatorda, along with Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Kare College of Law, Margao and Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up.
