Rossman Cruz Sports Club secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 50th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament with a 5-3 win via tie-breaker over Dramapur Sports Club. The match, organized by Chandor Club, was played at the Chandor Church Sports Complex on Friday.
Dramapur started on a positive note, but an early defensive lapse cost them dearly. In just the 2nd minute, their goalkeeper vacated the goal to challenge an advancing Rossman forward, only for the ball to slip past him and land at the feet of Shario Gomes, who calmly chipped it into an open net to give Rossman an early lead.
Rossman responded in the 20th minute, when Roydon fired a powerful shot that found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1. Both sides continued to push for an advantage, but the score remained unchanged at the half-time break.
In the second half, both teams battled hard for supremacy. Rossman came close twice, but Antush Moniz shot over the crossbar on both occasions. Despite efforts from both sides, the match ended 1-1 at full time.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Rossman Cruz converted four of their attempts through Andrew, Sheldon, Milton, and Desmond. For Dramapur, Shario and Rowan found the net, but it wasn't enough.
Andrew John of Rossman Cruz SC was named Hero of the Match and received the award from former Chandor Club player Antonio Peixoto.
