Don Bosco College of Panaji, Fr Agnel College, Quepem Government College, St Xavier’s College and PG Goa University registered convincing wins in the Goa University inter-collegiate women’s football tournament at different venues.
At the Goa University Ground, Don Bosco College of Panjim thrashed Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim, 6-0. Blessica and Simran Narvekar scored twice each, while an own goal by Suhana Parwar and a strike by Tika Sunar completed the rout. Blessica scored in the 12th and 32nd minutes, Narvekar in the 13th and 16th, Parwar put through her own net in the 34th, and Sunar scored in the 44th minute.
Fr Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, edged Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, 2-1. Chaitali Gauns put Fr Agnel ahead in the fourth minute before Angel Lopes equalised for Sanquelim in the 24th. Lavita Kavlekar scored the winner in the 43rd minute.
At the Rosary College Ground, Navelim, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, defeated Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar, 6-0. Maclyn Fernandes (7th), Muskan Sharma (11th), Merlyn Mascarenhas (17th), Vaishnavi Satarkar (18th, 24th) and Mifa Fernandes (23rd) were on target.
St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, beat Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, Bambolim, 5-1. Gevel D’Souza (4th), Priya Sharma (17th), Elena Pereira (21st) and Vidhita Gadekar (25th) scored for Xavier’s, while Nijole Noronha pulled one back for Dempo College in the 22nd minute.
Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, prevailed over Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona, 2-1 in the tie-breaker after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Tanish Velip gave Mallikarjun College the lead in the seventh minute before Raynel Dias equalised for Don Bosco in the 37th. Don Bosco won the tie-breaker 2-1, with Miffy Rebello and Sania Cardoso scoring, while Anan Viegas converted for Mallikarjun.
At the Chowgule College Ground, PG Goa University defeated Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, 5-1, with Pushpa Parab scoring all five goals. She struck in the 9th, 12th, 19th, 29th and 47th minutes. Piya Gomes scored Damodar College’s consolation goal in the 51st minute.
Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, defeated Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, 4-0. Fresha Vaz opened the scoring in the 14th minute, Chonghoiting Vaiphei scored twice in the 40th and 45th minutes, and Diya Naik completed the tally in the 49th.
Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, advanced after being awarded a walkover against Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao.
