Dr. K B Hedgewar Vidyalay emerged champions of the 14th SRS Ponda Taluka School Chess Championship, securing nine match points and 16 game points to claim the title.
The tournament was organised by the Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) in association with SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi, and V.D. & S.V. Wagle High School, Mangeshi. A total of 22 schools participated in the competition, with each school fielding a team of four players.
GVM's Utkarsh Vidyamandir finished runners-up after also scoring nine match points but settling for 14.5 game points. A. J. de Almeida High School secured third place with eight match points.
Swastik Vidyalay, Vidhya Vruddhi School and V.D. & S.V. Wagle High School completed the top six positions, finishing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony saw trophies and certificates presented by Sagar Sakordekar, Founder of SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy and President of PTCA, along with PTCA Secretary Amogh Namshiker, Chief Arbiter and PTCA Executive Member Anand Kurtikar, Treasurer Sandesh Naik, Joint Secretary and Arbiter Pankaj Chavan, Wagle High School Headmistress Mitasha Aigal, and Arbiter Milind Gaude.
