Duane Pinto emerged champion of the All Cavelossim Open TT Tournament, defeating veteran Churchill Dias 21-17, 21-16 in the final organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at the Old Club House Hall, Cavelossim.
Pinto dominated the final to clinch the singles title in straight games. Earlier, he overcame Wilson Cardozo 21-14, 21-17 in the semifinals.
Dias, meanwhile, staged a fine comeback in his semifinal, defeating Cruz Afonso 16-21, 21-15, 21-18.
Pinto also completed a double by partnering Afonso to win the doubles title. The duo overcame Dias and Cardozo 21-18, 21-17 in the final.
The singles and doubles winners were presented cash prizes, with the winner receiving Rs 5,000 and the runner-up Rs 3,000.
Joe Fernandes of Tamborim was the chief guest and presented the prizes. Fernandes also donated a Stag table tennis table to the club and sponsored all the prizes.
