Euro Connexion had an easy 2-0 win over Skyla Strikers in the Sevens Women’s Football Festival organised by Goa Sevens and Ambelim Sports Club played at Ambelim Sports Complex, Ambelim
on Saturday.
Both the sides got off to an even start with the Euro side enjoying better ball possession. Mayeshwari Haldankar had an attempt to give Euro a lead but her low shot was well collected by the Skyla keeper.
Reema Noronha played an important part at the Skyla backline, clearing the danger balls of the Euro side. For the Strikers, Jeromina Colaco kept the Euro back string working round the clock but her attempts were foiled
outside the box.
Malvita Mascarenhas came close to scoring for Euro but her shot off a free kick went inches high from the post. The Euro side finally managed to take the lead as Flavin Rodrigues’s pass inside the box was well connected by Macrena Dias, who tapped it inside the box as the Connexion went into the half with a
narrow 1-0 lead.
Resuming into the second half, the Euro side kept trying to extend their lead with Beverly Cardozo and Macrenna Dias striking the rival post. On the other side, Reema and Cifa Lima tried hard to find the leveller. But Euro doubled their lead just before the final whistle with Macrena Dias completing her brace and giving her side a 2-0 lead and eventually three important points.
