FC Goa and Sirvodem Sports Club registered wins on the opening day of the 4th edition of the Vedanta Women’s League at Rosary ground, on Sunday.
While FC Goa had to depend on Sujata Shetty’s 51st-minute strike for a narrow 1-0 win over Futebol Club YFA, Sirvodem SC showed no mercy against Compassion FC as they hammered them seven goals to nil. Chetna Tirodkar scored a brace while Aniela Barreto, Razia Pereira, Vinoshka Fernandes, Daisy Crasto, and Swellen Fernandes netted a goal each for the winning team.
The league commenced with a ceremony attended by chief guest Carol Fernandes E Gomes, Chairperson, Women's Committee, Goa Football Association (GFA); Leena Verenkar, Group CSR Head, Vedanta Limited; and other dignitaries.
Jozima Fernandes of FC Goa and Daisy Crasto of Sirvodem FC emerged as the player of the match for the respective matches.
