The Covid vaccination drive is scheduled across all 37 centres including Goa Medical College and Hospital, South Goa District Hospital, Mapusa and Ponda Sub District Hospital, primary health centers, community health centres and so on.
Each centre under the Directorate of Health Services has been set a target of 100 doses per day including second doses.
The Goa government, however, has yet to take any decision on allowing private hospitals to conduct vaccination subject to the rules laid down by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). A round of deliberation with private hospitals is expected to be held in the coming days.
The Government of India has capped vaccination charges in private hospitals at Rs 250, while it is free of cost in government hospitals.
Sources have disclosed that 13 private hospitals empanelled under the State government’s Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) are likely to be listed as sites for paid vaccination. Of these, only two are in North Goa and 11 are located in South Goa. This phase will involve vaccination of citizens above the age of 60 years and those from 45 to 59 years with comorbidities (both age groups as on January 1, 2022).
Those above 60 years have been directed to visit the nearest government hospital with their Aadhaar Card or any other government approved photo identity card. People from 45 to 59 years of age will have to produce the certificate of their comorbidity from a registered medical practitioner on a prescribed format of Government of India with their photo identity. Centre has specified 20 co-morbid conditions which are eligible for vaccination.
DHS has further informed that the registration of both these age group beneficiaries will be done on the spot at the vaccination site on a “first come, first serve” basis.
The registration can also be undertaken online on Co-WIN portal once the portal is open for the same from 9 am onwards on Monday, Cowin.gov.in
The second and final dose for all due beneficiaries will be given at the same site where they received their first dose and the date for this will be automatically decided by the Co-WIN portal on completion of 28 days from the administration of the first dose.
