St Anthony Marna beat Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 3-1 to move into the quarterfinals of the FC Tuem Champions Trophy at DSYA ground, Tuem.
Videsh Sawant opened the account for St Anthony in the 7th minute with a rasping shot. However, the very next minute DBO Fatorda’s Maxwell Furtardo headed home a cross by Veliston D’Souza.
In the 10th minute, Mayuresh Naik scored with a neat placement after being assisted by Sangam Pednekar. Fatorda then failed to convert a penalty. In the 19th minute, Pushparaj Mandrekar scored with a brilliant header, 3-1.
Curtorim Gymkhana ease past SCC Loutolim
Curtorim Gymkhana downed SCC Loutoulim 2-0 to enter the final of Areal Panchyat Cup inter village football tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC at Padribhat ground on Thursday.
Milagres Fernandes and Aliston Fernandes netted a goal each for Curtorim Gymkhana in the 17th and 52nd minutes respectively. Doyal Alves of Loutoulim received the best player of the match award from Andrew Ferraro, football promoter of Velsao and president of CAC Cansaulim.
Carmona Veterans down St Michael to advance
Carmona Veterans prevailed over St Michael Veterans 6-5 via tiebreaker to advance in the St Michael Veterans Cup football tournament organised by St Michael Boys at Orlim Church ground on Thursday.
Carmona took the lead in the 9th minute through Alvito D'Cunha but Orlim equalised through Francisco in the 56th minute. In the tiebreaker, Mario Soares, Alvito, Mickey, Raju and Menino were on target for Carmona, while Alcino, Alister, Roque and Socorro scored for Orlim.
