Youth Futsal Academy under the tutelage of Soccro Vaz successfully organised the first of its kind Futsal Junior Masters where 50 girls and boys participated in a fun-filled event of five small-sided matches.
The teams were divided equally and named as follows in each category: under-6 yrs “ Pink Panthers and Orange Kangaroos; U-8 yrs “ Yellow Minions, Purple Butterflies and Orange Nemos; U-10 yrs- Light Blue Dolphins, Dark Blue Whales, Green Turtles, Orange Tigers and Yellow Lions.
For entertainment for the kids as well as a number of parents and relativeswho were present, exhibition matches between parents “ both in men’s and women’s category “ were organised. The highlight of the event was the kids cheering their mums and dads. Also, in a special act Wendham Grey did a spectacular juggling act with clubs and knifes.
Rommel De Souza, owner of Peppers Gourmet Cuisine in Margao, was the chief guest for the event. He gave away individual trophies to Ishan Naik, Darius Fernandes, Samuel D'Souza, Sahil Neurenkar, Yohann Sousa, Obaid Shaik, Caleb Nick Fernandes and Nathan Furtado for best performances of the day and in the practice sessions in the month leading up to the tournament. The best players in the parents' games - Gaurish Lad (men's) and Nadia Bacchilega (women's) “ were also given mementos. The chief guest also presented a certificate and medal to each participant.
Youth Futsal Academy is chalking up plans to start a parents club for all the enthusiastic parents. The academy also has plans to start training U-16 and U-18 children if a minimum of 30 students enrol for the programme.
