Reinforcing its commitment to promoting clean and ethical sport, the Goa Cricket Association (GCA), in association with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), organised an Anti-Doping Awareness Seminar for approximately 250 cricketers and support staff from across Goa.

The seminar was held in the presence of GCA Secretary Tulshidas Shetye, while the technical session was delivered by NADA expert Dr. Rajesh Mailagire (MBBS, MD) through video conferencing.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Mailagire provided a comprehensive overview of the anti-doping framework in India, highlighting prohibited substances and methods, athletes’ rights and responsibilities, therapeutic use exemptions, testing procedures, and the consequences of Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs). He also emphasised the importance of exercising caution while consuming medications and nutritional supplements, urging athletes to remain vigilant and fully informed to safeguard their sporting careers.

The interactive session aimed to enhance awareness among players and support personnel on the significance of maintaining the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and accountability in sport while ensuring strict compliance with NADA’s anti-doping regulations.

The seminar was organised under the leadership of GCA President and former Ranji Trophy cricketer Mahesh Dessai, Secretary Tulshidas Shetye, and the Association’s Managing Committee as part of the Goa Cricket Association’s sustained efforts to educate its players and support staff on anti-doping compliance and foster a culture of clean, transparent, and ethical cricket.
