Geno Cup: Mormugao crush Quepem

Mormugao scored a comprehensive innings and 125-run victory over Quepem in the ongoing Geno Cup Under-16 two-day cricket tournament at SAG ground, Chicalim on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Quepem were shot out for 118 runs in 56.2 overs. Aniket Shah made the top score of 31 runs. Pratik Naik contributed 25 runs. Mormugao's Shadab Khan picked up five wickets for 42 runs. Jai Patel claimed four wickets. Mormugao, who had reached 216/3 in 41 overs overnight, put up a strong batting display as they declared their innings at 304/3. Om Fadte remained unbeaten on 80 while Arsh Sardesai was 66 not out. Aniket Sawant contributed 62 from his bat. Aneesh Verlekar made 45 runs.
Quepem failed to cope up with their rival attack lead by Shadab Khan, who grabbed seven wickets for 30 runs in nine overs in the second innings. And as a result, their entire team was bowled out for 61 runs in 23.4 overs. Shadab was named man of the match for his 12-wicket in the match.

Chandor Club win SJ Areal Cup

Chandor Club blanked Curtorim Gymkhana 2-0 to win the 36th Sao Jose de Areal Village Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal. The highlight of the match was a brilliant brace by striker Frazier Gomes.
