The Goa Football Development Council has congratulated the technical staff and players of GFDC Residential Academy after Churchill Brothers-GFDC qualified for the national round of AIFF U-15 Youth League.
The Churchill Bros squad comprises of 95% of players from the GFDC Residential Academy. According to a press statement by the government-funded body, its technical in-charge Derryl D’Souza “played an instrumental role in polishing the skills of the youngsters along with the coaching staff of Churchill Bros. He worked tirelessly to make this happen by conducting training sessions every day in the evening from November onwards”.
GFDC Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro wished the team good luck in the national league.
“The captain, Harsh Patre, played a vital role in the club’s run and we hope to continue with the same momentum. Many of our grassroots players have found a place in the other teams of the U-15 League which shows the effectiveness of our grassroots development program. We will make greater efforts to improve and increase grassroots development in the State,”
Monteiro said.
GFDC Member Secretary Alexio Da Costa congratulated the academy boys for emerging State champions in the AIFF U-15 Youth League.
“This victory is a moment of great honour to everyone connected with these boys at GFDC including the past and present council members,” Da Costa said.
