The Dona Paula Football Development Centre of the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) at Our Lady of the Rosary High School celebrated its first anniversary. The centre, administered under the able guidance of centre head Marian James, coaches Carol Gomes and Sujita Murgaonkar has progressed successfully in the last one year and with special gratitude to Sister Antoneita Colaco, Principal of the school who encouraged football at the centre has seen the trainees strength increase from 66 to 101 trainees.
Member Secretary of GFDC, Aleixo Da Costa in his address was enthralled to see trainees playing football with such agility and dribbling skills. He further urged parents to send their children for regular coaching as the career path for footballers is now lucrative and very promising.
Speaking on the occasion GFDC Chairman, Dr Rufino Monteiro expressed his pleasure seeing the strength of trainees increase and congratulated the entire Dona Paula centre team and parents for showing huge interest in football, the state sport of Goa. He further encouraged the young trainees to play well and display their football skills and talent in the Vodafone - GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival Inter Centre League which will commence next month and hoped to see Dona Paula centre in this season’s final. Shantaram Naik, Council Member of GFDC and Sister Antoneita Colaco, Principal were the dignitaries present for the anniversary.
