Goa enter quarterfinals

PANAJI

The four-day Cooch Behar Trophy match between Goa and Chandigarh ended in a draw, as expected. The game was played at the GCA Academy Ground, Porvorim. Goa earned one point from the encounter, while Chandigarh collected three points based on their first-innings lead. With this result, Goa took their tally to 24 points, retained the top position in Group D, and qualified for the pre-quarterfinals of the tournament.

In reply to Goa's first-innings total of 308 all out, Chandigarh scored 457 runs in 123.3 overs in their first innings. Chandigarh then attempted to force a result by dismissing Goa cheaply in the second innings. However, Goa once again played positively and scored 283 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 117 overs. On the third day, Goa had reached 106 for 1.

Aditya Kota (87) and Shaantanu Nevagi (41) added 95 runs for the second wicket. After Goa slipped from a strong position of 173 for 1 to 212 for 5, there was some concern in the Goa camp. However, Yash Kasvankar (31) and Nitin Ghadi (15) batted cautiously to steady the innings. The pair of Chigurupati Venkata (20 not out) and Mihir Kudalkar (13 not out) remained unbeaten at the end.
