The three-day Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite cricket match between Goa and Andhra ended within just two days. Playing at the Sector 10 BSP Cricket Stadium in Bhilai, Goa, suffered a heavy defeat by an innings and 152 runs. In reply to Goa's first-innings total of 168, Andhra piled up a massive 411 runs in 90.2 overs in their first innings. Andhra then dismissed Goa for 91 runs in 26.2 overs in the second innings.
Resuming play on Friday from their overnight score of 244 for 1, Andhra added steadily to their total. KNV Kaushik was dismissed for 119 after adding just five runs to his overnight score. Harsha Sai Sathvik, who was nearing his century, went on to complete his hundred. The middle-order batters also made useful contributions. For Goa, Mrunal Naik was the most successful bowler, claiming four wickets.
Trailing by 243 runs, Goa were expected to show improved batting in the second innings. However, Goa's batters failed to come anywhere close to their first-innings performance. No. 10 batter Sarang Govekar (not out 28), opener Adeep Miskin (19), and Sairaj Govekar (13) were the only ones to take Goa close to the three-figure mark.
