Goa Fire Run to be flagged off on April 14

Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services will host the first edition of Goa Fire Run, a 10 km and 5 km walk and run event, on the occasion of the National Fire Service Day, April 14.

The run organized by DFES in partnership with Vasco Sports Club, will be flagged off from Goa fire brigade training grounds at St Inez, Panaji and will proceed via Miramar circle along River Mandovi.

Speaking about the event, Director of FES Ashok Menon stated, “The event will mark our respect and pay homage to martyred firemen. Several other events have also been organised during the Fire Prevention Week after National Fire Service Day.”

DFES is expecting the participation of around 500 runners across both the events, which will be annually organized from this year onward.

A total of Rs 38,000 worth prizes will be handed over to the winners of the twin events.

Navelim Veterans prevailed over Curtorim Veterans 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi- finals of the 2nd Assolda Veterans football tournament at Padribhat,Sao Jose de Areal grounds on Friday.
