Goa's team has landed in a difficult position against Baroda in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite (Under-16) cricket tournament. After Baroda declared their first innings at 399 for 8 in 98 overs, Goa were bowled out for just 121 runs in 51.1 overs in their first innings. Enforcing the follow-on, Baroda reduced Goa to 51 for 3 in 21 overs by the end of the second day. Goa still trail by 227 runs, with Sunday being the final day of the match.
The match is being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
Resuming from their first-day score of 323 for 6, Baroda went on to declare their first innings at 399 runs. Shubham Haria top-scored for Baroda with an impressive 153 runs. For Goa Mrunal Naik was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 64. In reply to the massive total, Goa’s batting completely collapsed. Openers Jaden Pereira (27), Shaunak Teli (29) and Sarang Govekar (18) were the only batters to reach double figures. For Baroda, Tilak Patel and Yuvraj Singh took three wickets each.
After being asked to follow on, Goa lost the wickets of Adeep Miskin (24), Jaden Pereira (10) and Sairaj Govekar (10). At stumps on Day Two, Mrunal Naik (1) and Anurag Bahadur (0) were unbeaten at the crease.
