Uttar Pradesh continued to send the hapless Goa attack on a leather hunt to declare their first essay at a mammoth 564/4, and have the visitors on the brink of defeat at stumps on Day 3 of the Elite Group C Ranji Trophy season-opener at the Green Park, Kanpur

on Saturday.

The overnight pair of captain, Aksh Deep Nath and Priyam Garg added another 69 runs to take their rollicking partnership to an exact 250 for the fourth wicket, when Nath (194) was deceived by the guiles of slow bowler, Darshan Misal to fall agonizingly short of a well-deserved double hundred.

His partner, Garg continued his merry ways to be the third batsman in the innings to notch a hundred. Garg was unconquered on 117 with Rinku Singh for company on 15  when Nath decided a 412-run lead was suffice to go in for the kill.

Goa in their second dig did not fare any better with three of their batsmen getting into their twenties but unable to convert their starts. At close of play, Goa had crawled to 123 for 8 with Misal on 12 and Felix Alemao yet to open his account. In the UP attack, Saurabh Kumar  was the pick of the bowlers with 4/31 with Ankit Rajpoot providing more than able support with returns of 3/23.
