The Goa Professional League (GPL), sponsored by CAM Industries, is set to kick off tomorrow, August 27. Speaking at a press conference, in Panaji today, Caitano Fernandes, the President of the Goa Football Association (GFA), revealed some significant details about this year's tournament. A total of 156 matches are slated to take place, marking a record-breaking level of team participation in the league.
He underlined his commitment to the welfare of the players by announcing the establishment of minimum wage standards for all players,
Fernandes also disclosed that cash prizes will be awarded to the "Man of the Match." Additionally, the winners of the GPL will now compete in the I-League 3rd Division.
Moreover, Fernandes emphasised that the licensing procedures have been completed for all the participating teams in the GPL.
