Salgaocar Football Club recorded a crucial 1-0 win over 10-man Dempo Sports Club in the CAM Goa Professional League, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday.Fhezer Gomes scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute. Earlier, Dempo SC were reduced to 10 man after their goalkeeper Savio Pereira received straight red just before the breather.
However, it was Salgaocar FC keeper Jason D’Melo, who produced fine saves in the game, including a penalty, and was rightfully adjudged the player of the match.
“It was a good game. Both teams had equal chances to win. We gave our best and managed to score the moment we settled into the game,” stated Salgaocar FC coach Anthony Levenio Pereira.
“I am happy with the result, though there are areas where we can improve upon. Looking forward for the next game now,” Pereira stated.
