St Rock's Youth Club, Majorda put in a breathtaking performance with a 3 goal victory over St Anthony's Sports Club, Colva in the GFA Third Division Salcete Zone fixture at the St John the Baptist Dando Ground, Benaulim on Monday.St Rock's Youth Club dominated the game right from the word go and their forwards swarmed all over the rival territory but could not score due to inept shooting. At the other end, St Anthony's Sports Club were subdued and disjointed with few attempts at the rival goal.
Meanwhile, two footballers Francis Pawaskar of St Anthony's Sports Club and Lenny Vaz of St Rock's Youth Club were taken to District Hospital, Margao after both were knocked out in an on-field collision in the 40th minute following a flag kick taken by Majorda. Both players collided while going for a header. Antonio Pango, Senior Vice President of GFA and Chairman of the Competition and Anthony Maam Fernandes, Vice Chairman who were at the venue took the players to the hospital in Pango's car and also provided them with medicines. Francis Pawaskar of St Anthony's suffered 5 stitches while Lenny Vaz got two stitches.
"We rushed them immediately to the District Hospital, Margao," said Pango.
St Rock's Youth Club were a dominant lot and troubled the rival goalkeeper with well-orchestrated raids. Myron Pereira broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. The goal motivated St Rock's Youth Club to mount the pressure and in the 67th minute, Royston Correia doubled the lead. Ashley Mendes fired the final nail into the coffin in injury time.
