Goa Professional League ,Goan FC thump Calangute Association

Goan Football Club came back strongly to register an impressive 5-2 win over Calangute Association in a 8th round game of the Goa Professional League organized by GFA ad played at Duler Stadium on Saturday.   

The Young Gaurs continued their winning run to stay on top of the table with 20 points while Calangute Association stay put with 4 points.   

 Both the coaches made three changes in their starting XI. Goan FC fielded Liston Colaco, Princeton Rebello and Sarineo Fernandes while Calangute Association brought in Jayganesh Goltekar, Akash Sanadi and Diptesh Naik.   

 The Young Gaurs had two close attempts at the rival goal early in the game.  Liston Colaco’s curled shot hit the top upright corner in the 7th minute while two minutes later, Sarineo Fernandes’s power-packed strike went just past the post.   

 In the 17th minute, Kingslee Fernandes dribbled past a Calangute defender and sent an intelligent through pass to Imran Khan, who guided the ball into the goal to make it 1-0. 

In a few minutes, Calangute Association’s Mohammad Shahsad sent a pass to Diptesh Naik, who in turn passed the ball to Akash Sanadi, who guided the ball into the net to make it 1-1.   

 Just before the first half came to a halt, the beach side lads made it 2-1 when Goan FC defender Meldon D’Silva tapped the the ball into his own goal while doing clearance duties.   

 On crossing over, Goan FC eqaulised within twenty two seconds through a Kapil Hoble header.

 Goan FC then took the lead through a Meldon D’Silva header to make it 3-2. The young Gaurs then pumped in two more goals through Kapil Hoble(77th min) and substitute Aaren D’Silva (85th min) to complete the route.
