Goa entered the finals of the 6th Agape Cup National Football Championship at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima defeating Kerala 4-0.
They will play the finals against hosts and last edition’s runners-up Nagaland, who overcame a spirited Odisha in the second semifinal 3-0. Mathew Colaco put Goa in the lead in the 10th minute. Ashley Rodrigues scored a beautiful goal against the run of play just minutes before the lemon break. Frazer Viegas deflected a good cross from Lucky Sabita to secure the defending champions' entry into the final. Goa skipper Filbert Pereira made it 4-0 with a powerful shot.
Earlier in the league matches, Goa beat Tripura 2-0 with Kevin Almeida scoring in the 27th minute and Vasco forward Joshua D’Silva netting in the 51st minute. In the second and last league match of pool A, Goa beat West Bengal 3-0 to enter the semifinals.
Mathew Colaco opened the account in the 15th minute followed by a beautiful free kick taken by Elton Godinho which went in off a deflection into the West Bengal goal in the 29th minute. Oliver D’Sousa’s goal early in the second half to seal the facile win.
