In the Senior Women's One-Day Trophy Elite tournament on Saturday, the Goa team suffered a 17-run defeat. After Tripura were bowled out for 223 runs in 49.1 overs, they bundled out Goa for 206 in 44.3 overs to register a thrilling 17-run victory. The closely fought contest saw intense competition from both sides till the very end. The match was played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
Batting first, Tripura got off to a cautious start through Mouchaity Debnath (20) and J.R. Debnath (11). Ambika Debnath then steadied the innings with a 46-run knock off 55 balls. After Tamanna Nigam (22) was dismissed, captain R.R. Saha took charge and scored a composed 58 to strengthen the total. Reshma Nayak contributed 25, while R.R. Mane added 18. With 12 extras, Tripura posted 223 runs.
For Goa, Shreya Parab claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs in 8.1 overs, while leg-spinner Vidhi Bhandare also picked up 3 wickets for 51 runs.
Chasing 224, Goa made a promising start through Purvaja Verlekar (29) and Harshita Yadav (43). In the middle order, Poorva Bhaidkar fought hard with a determined 48 off 64 balls to keep the contest alive. However, regular wickets derailed the chase. Despite captain Vinavi Gurav's 20-run effort, Goa were bowled out for 206 in 44.3 overs.
Tamanna Nigam and Reshma Nayak claimed three wickets each for Tripura, while R.R. Mane and A.B. Das took one apiece to seal the victory. Goa will next face Railways on February 16.
