Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna, got the better of St Anthony’s SC, Assolda, 4-2 to enter the State final of the Goa Tiger Cup 2022 All-Goa Inter-Village football tournament, organised by Goa United Sports Academy, at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Friday.
Assolda took their opponents by surprise when Safik Shaikh put them ahead in the sixth minute. However, Rossman Cruz responded within four minutes and equalised through Stephen. In the 15th minute, Rossman Cruz took the lead when Jesloy finished neatly.
Going into the break, Rossman Cruz enjoyed a 2-1 advantage and started the second half brightly. Stephen secured his brace in the 46th minute with a fine striker and three minutes later, Rossman Cruz scored their fourth through Sheldon to be in the driver’s seat.
Fayden did pull a goal back for Assolda in the 57th minute but thereafter Rossman Cruz organised their defence better and emerged south Goa champions.
Assolda’s Joaquim was adjudged Man-of-the-Match.
Dunes SC, Mandrem, will take on Goa Velha SC in the North zone final on Saturday. Rossman will take on the winners of North Goa on Monday.
