MARGAO
Things are getting bad to worse for cellar side Goa Velha Sports Club in the Geno GFA First Division League. In the latest humbling, they crashed to an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Salgaocar FC Juniors at SAG Artificial Turf, Fatorda on Tuesday. This was their tenth defeat of the league.
Salgaocar FC led 2-0 at the half time. The highlight of the match though was a brilliant performance by in-form striker Ronaldo Olveira, who scored three. Dylan Lourenco, substitute Fhezer Gomes and captian Arif Pathan were the other scorers for Salgaocar FC.
Salgoacar FC took control of the game right from the word go and dominated the proceedings. The Green brigade broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Ronaldo Olveira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Salgaocar FC striker Ronaldo Olveira and Stephen Satarkar’s fierce attempts at the goal were saved by the Goa Velha goalkeeper as he restricted the score to 2-0 at
half time.
Goa Velha Sports Club again looked ordinary; their defence porous and midfield unimaginative. The result was not very surprising in the end. Salgaocar FC doubled the lead in the 42nd minute when striker Dylan Lourenco bulged the net off Stephen Satarkar.
Goa Velha’s morale was completely down after conceding the second goal while Salgaocar Juniors increased the pace and looked hungry for goals but near misses by their forwards prevented them from increasing
their tally.
Salgaocar FC’s positive approach yielded them their third goal in the 52nd minute when Ronaldo Olveira punted the ball to the far corner of the net to register his brace. In the 58th minute, Ronaldo Olveira extended the team’s lead to 4-0 when he headed home off a lob from Dylan Lourenco to complete his hat-trick.
Fhezer Gomes inflated the tally when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish in the 73rd minute. Salgaocar FC hammered the final nail in Goa Velha’s coffin in the 75th minute when Arif Pathan scored.
