There will be no more delay in awarding cash prizes and certificates to sportspersons who have successfully represented Goa at the national and international levels. Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Govind Gaude informed that this process will be done online from now. He was speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony for meritorious players.
Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs Director Ajay Gaude, IAS Ajit Roy and other dignitaries were present with him on the occasion.
As announced by Minister Govind Gaude in the assembly session, the players will be given a cash prize before Ganesh Chaturthi. The programme was conducted on the occasion of Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary and National Sports Day.
"Goan athletes have made a name for themselves at the national and international levels by achieving success in various sports. This is a matter of great pride for the state of Goa as well as for India," the Sports Minister said.
He advised the players that instead of running behind dreams and success, they should try to see how success will follow them.
On the occasion, 277 young sportspersons who have achieved success in various sports at the national and international levels were honoured with cash prizes. Chess player Bhakti Kulkarni, Badminton player Anura Prabhudesai, shooter Yash Padloskar and Karisma Shirvaikar among others were given awards.
